NGO Decries High Rate Of Teenage Pregnancies

Ladies of Virtue Foundation for Girl Child, a non-governmental association (NGO), has decried the loss of values that has put the young ones at risk of unwanted pregnancies especially the girl child.

The group wants more attention to be given to the girl child as they are faced with increasing pressures and hazards in form of sexual assaults and harassments, rape, gang rape and unwanted pregnancy.

Mrs. Olukemi Olujitan, founder of the NGO stated in her programme, an evening of Intense Worship and Thanksgiving tagged, “Cries And Shouts in Zion” that it was imperative to guide the girl child from her early stages especially now that the moral fabrics of our society had been torn apart.

Mrs. Olujitan who is a mother of four girls added that her outfit has been in the forefront of girl child empowerment for more than six years.

“The girl child is a very special person with immense potential even as we the females are an upgrade of the male. We all know that the body and life of the girl do not remain the same again when a boy has sex with a girl. So my outfit, Ladies of Virtue Foundation for The Girl Child, aims to empower a hundred girl child this year in sex education and skill acquisition.

“We stand for purity and excellence and urge parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their girls as pedophiles are on the prowl seeking to defile young girls in nursery and primary schools.

“We have in the past visited schools both in South West and also in Abuja to educate students on excellence and keeping themselves pure especially the girl child,” says Mrs. Olujitan.

The founder of NGO this year wants to further increase the number of schools they embark on to teach students on dangers of immorality and pre-marital sex.

At the event held at Maryland in Lagos, different music groups and gospel Artistes like Debreeze, Gloryyeah, Kingsley, Love Symphony,  Prevailers Youth Choir and others ministered, giving thanks to God for protection through the previous year.
